Perigee and apogee... do those words sound familiar at all? Aren't they some of the words that are used in Bedknobs and Broomsticks for the magic school spells? (I love that movie, by the way!)
Well, apparently they refer to points in the lunar orbit. Perigee is when the moon is closest to earth and apogee is when it is farthest away.
Fascinating.
