Found a very colorful orange insect on the screen door handle this morning. Very orange with black tiger stripes. After a bit of searching (and lots of "ewwww" bug pictures!) I have learned it is an Assassin bug. Specifically Pselliopus barberi. Click here if you want to see pictures I found online.
It seems to be a beneficial bug so I'll let it live. The bug guides also say not to touch them because their bites can be painful. Now if it would just move off the back porch and into the garden, we'd both be much happier!
